What is Protection from Abuse (PFA)?

A PFA is a civil "no contact" order granted by Family Court .  It provides the victim protection from an abuser, as well as relief such as custody, support, counseling and other relief.  It is critical that all relief needed is requested in the Petition otherwise it can not be raised at the hearing.
